Since dad didn't officially let me have the P38 till I was 21, I guess it would be the No. 4 Lee Enfield I bought from Angler's Roost (burnt down) for
$50.00 (less mag, those crooks!) back in 1994.

Can't remember which came first but it would either be an all matching 1907 Swede M96 that I picked up in a local sporting goods shop just because it
looked neat or an M38 Turk that I got from Dunhams for 50 bucks or so. Doing research on those two rifles led me down the long and sometimes expensive path of
milsurp collecting. 50+ rifles later my wife says I can quit any time now.

In either 1968 or '69, best friend and I each bought 1893 Spanish carbines in 7x57 from the Gibson's in a neighboring town as the one in our town
didn't carry any milsurps. We both sporterized 'em-who didn't @ that time?-and I later traded mine even for a Llama .45 pistol which later also
went away in another trade. These were the first of many.....

SMLE Mk. III. 1962. $14 from Klein's. Included bayonet, scabbard and 20 rounds of milsurp ammo. "Mail ordered" from the back cover of some
magazine. Greasy but impressive. "Disappeared" from my possession during my first year of USAF service; younger brother said "I dunno...".

Late "80's" I bought my first milsurp, a Blue Sky import M1 Garand, no cartouches on the stock, so I did my first try at refinishing a stock,
turned out pretty nice. Oh yeah, cost me $249!!
