Do they have a crest? What country where they made for? They are the ones in 7x57 not the 8mm ones.

Well go buy one and tell us!
I've always wanted a short Mauser in 7x57, 98 action. hsc |

S O G tells me they are out of stock so i ordered one from Century. they probably are the same 1932 Brazilian batch. every thing we've purchased from S O G
has been a good item and as described but this is 1st dealing with Century so we have our fingers crossed. k98 style 7mm are scarce...we'll keep you
posted.

Mine came today and it's my first "new" firearm in months. The economy has hit me hard but I'll be putting nine guns up on Gunbroker shortly
so I thought I'd splurge. Mine was far better than I expected except that the bore has a lot of rust in it. I'm in the process treating it with Kroil
and foaming bore cleaner and it's improving. I've got to get some coarse steel wool to wrap around a bore brush to really have a go at it. The bore
diameter across the lands at the muzzle is exactly where it should be measuring it with pin gauges. I haven't taken it apart yet to check for pitting
under the wood but the bluing on the receiver and barrel is very good with no visible rust. The stock has some dents and a few very minor gouges but no
cracks.
The bolt is not numbered. The receiver has three serial numbers: Brno's original, another presumably by Brazil, and Century's. The bent bolt handle has a knob with a flat knurled bottom. It's a real piece of history. I missed the boat when Springfield Sporters had these a number of years ago but I got on board this time. I may have been lucky. The Israeli K-98 I got from Century a year or two ago came through with an excellent mirror bright bore. From what I understand that was the exception! I'll post pictures of the VZ24 when I get farther along and give a report of metal condition below the wood. So far I'm very happy with it. Carl

I pulled the rifle apart this morning and was pleasantly suprised to find only minor rust and no real pitting. There was a lot of crud and dirt buried between
the wood and metal. The major challenge will be to get the bore clean and in shootable condition and I'm continuing to work on it. I may resort to naval
jelly to assist in that task. This rifle came directly from Century and was listed as being in good condition with an uncracked stock and it meets or exceeds
that description. Carl

I recently purchased one from SOG. Came Friday. The rifle is in great shape except the bore. The rifling is very faint at the bore and the muzzle swallows an
inverted bullet up the casing neck. Have you done this to your VZ? Have you shot it? Any info would be appreciated.

My 7mm VZ-24 wouldn't group at 50 yards. It measures great across the lands as I noted above but I think the bore is so rough that the bullets are being
damaged and won't fly straight. Carl
