I know it's legit, but I'm not absolutely sure of the exact model. Here are some pictures... I haven't seen it in person so I don't know the condition of the bore or if the lock works properly yet. I know this isn't much to go on, but what would you guys offer for this rifle? I don't want to cheat the owner, but I don't want to over pay for it, either. Thanks, Matt

Seems to be missing the rear sight leaves. lock appears to be that of an M1863 but the bolster looks more like that of a M1861 or modified M1855. Hard to tell much detail from the pictures, but lockplate markings would be significant to know who manufactured that at least. May well be a gun built up from parts, though the pictures make it look like those parts have been together a long time. Without better pictures, better knowledge of condition, and more information overall it is hard to put a value on it. If all original and correct, looking to be in the shape it appears, they typically sell in the 1-2k range, but Bannerman sporters and mismatch assemblies don't make it even to 500, though you can sometimes get more if you part it out as fair to good stocks can bring that much by themselves.

Posts: 269 (03/19/09 08:02 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Depending on whether it has solid bands with springs (64) or split bands with screws (63) it's either a 63 or a 64 model, I can't tell from the photo. While the clean out screw on the bolster is a feature of the 55 & 61 models the bolster is not shaped right for those types. I'd be cautious of the barrel it may be a repro or an original that someone added the clean out screw, 63's did not have this feature. The 63-64 bolster had a small eagle stamped where this piece has the screw. Looks to need a proper rear sight also. I woudn't spend big money on this.
