I've only seen it in the most recent Century flier I received in the mail. I can't see much out there in the forums other than they seem to be trickling out. And that Century may have bought out the parts from Vector. I know Century has had a bad reputation in the past as far as their builds. I have one of their Yugo under-folding stock AK's and it is a great piece, so I know they can do it right. I'd like to handle one before I make any kind of big leap, but the scarcity of semi-autos at the shops and shows may make that difficult, so any solid intel would be appreciated. I will put in a call to my Century rep, but I would like to hear from unbiased sources.

Posts: 6794 Mar 31 09 1:30 PM Forum Site Moderator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	They aren't Vector's parts or kits, as Vector is, happily, planning on staying in business. Century doesn't need to buy parts from 3rd parties; they're the largest firearms importer in the world.... There don't seem to be a ton of these in the "wild" yet. I've seen one report where it was claimed that the C93 wasn't nearly as nicely finished and assembled as the Vector, but it was functional and had acceptable if not stellar accuracy. Now, some who have inquired with Century have gotten the "what's a C93?" response. So I don't know what kind of push the rifle is getting or how knowledgeable the average rep is going to be. Century has had issues with HK style guns before (poorly timed triple frames, zero bolt gap, ground bolt heads, etc) but some of their offerings like the Yugo AK's are decent (largely because Century is farming out the AK assembly....I have a friend who's doing some of their build work). I'd personally want to inspect the gun or wait for a few more reviews. If Vector stays active, I'd pick up a V93 over anything Century offers. My V93 is awesome. As nice as most HK's I've seen. However, depending on the reviews and price points, the C93 may be interesting.... Life is the crummiest book I ever read, there isn't a hook; Just a lot of cheap shots, pictures to shock, and characters an amateur would never dream up...

Posts: 188 Apr 1 09 6:00 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I can hardly speak to reliability, etc. But, I did pick one up and play with it at a local store. It looked pretty good, decent finish and the receiver appeared to be a well made stamping.

They may turn out to be a bargain, as Vector guns are well over $1000 (actually approaching $2K on the secondary market), IGF guns from Atlantic Firearms are $1500, and HK guns are $2500+, so an $800 Century could be attractive. Here's my Vector. I traded a CMP SG Garand for it Came with both stocks, HK bipod, and 40 rd mags Life is the crummiest book I ever read, there isn't a hook; Just a lot of cheap shots, pictures to shock, and characters an amateur would never dream up...

A number of people got burned on the FAL {Frankenfal} and CETME. Most of the time you could fix em once you found the parts. In the case of the C93,it would be real tough to find parts of any kind. By then,Century claimed to have fixed their quality control issue's.Then along came the Golan Sporter. More problems.Two of my friends each bought one,a week apart. Same store same batch. One ran like a clock,the other hardly at all.But I guess it's about how bad you want one.Pay your money and take your chances.

It would be nice if the C93 was a quality build. We'll find out soon though. Posts: 1243 Jun 8 09 9:44 AM Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well, I finally got to touch and handle one of the Century C93's at a local gun show. The dealer had one on the table and said he had a couple of more he would bring to the show if that one sold. In short, I liked it. A lot. The finish is not as pretty as a real HK, but what would you expect. Seemed to be a solid, clean build. All the functions seemed smooth enough. I know the test is in firing one, but that's hard to do unless you know someone who has bought one. Plus it had a good feel. As in the length and weight. Unfortunately, personal finances are such that I could not make a purchase at this time. Hopefully they will be at some future shows. Price was in the upper $800's.

Posts: 12 Jun 24 09 9:40 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Having read through a number of other forums, it seems that a good percentage are like their Cetme's, bolt gap is bad from the start and need + size rollers to fix or the guys are sending them back. Its too bad considering what people are spending on them.

Pity that people are spending their hard earned money on some thing that may or may not work. Perhaps our fellow members know of a talented "smith"that can help these folks. Used to be a fellow called "big fifty",who could do wonders with such cases.Don"t know if he is still around.

The issue is that it shouldn't have to be fixed. Adding +4 rollers is a depot level repair that would normally be done after a rifle has been fired thousands of rounds, not "new" from the factory. By shipping these rifles with bolt gap "issues" Century is in effect, lowering the service life of these rifles. Where if they were shipped with a .20 gap, after years of firing you could add +4 rollers to fix the decreasing bolt gap. Century is shipping rifles with .13 as the MAXIMUM under their specs (as told to me by Allied Armament who is one of Century's contractors for C93 assembly). At .13 as the max bolt gap, it represents what HK would consider a worn rifle. After firing as few as 500 rds, bolt gap could settle from .13 to as little as .06. Sure you can fix this with + size rollers, but why should you have to? After "fixing" your new rifle with +size rollers, you fire it for a couple years, bolt gap falls again (as it wears...as designed), and then what is your "fix"? Well, you have to take it to a 'smith to have the rifle barrel reset. If you don't have a problem with Century's specs for assembly of these rifles robbing you of service life, good on you, sir. I'd prefer that they were assembled to the Original HK Spec™ rather than the Century max bolt gap or .013, but maybe that's just me.... Posts: 566 Oct 29 09 10:34 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Well said Pitbull!!This is not about "woe is me"or anything like it.It"s about a product that is compromised the minute it leaves the factory.If the weapon was put together correctly the first time,you would not have to "goggle" anything.Kinda like buying a "new" pick up,and then running over to NAPA to buy a transmission rebuild kit to make it go.If it needs +4 rollers at this early stage,it's basicly worn out .This thing is on life support from the git go.It will walk it self out of it"s bolt gap,after a few years for sure.Having the barrel reset is the only cure.Point is that Century will never build this weapon to HK standards.In short,this rifle is a goner from the start.

Posts: 1 May 8 10 6:47 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I purchased a Goland from century and it works flawless, except for a broken firing pin , called them about it and they sent one free of charge.... But like any surplus rifle. even though they say new , they are surplus rifles. and they are stated as USED on the manufacture tag that comes with them.. a long strip of paper mostly attached to the trigger guard.. they must have this to be sold , for they are not new guns , never fired, but new rubuilt.... like a rebuilt title for a vehicle that was totalled....... just some info.......

Seems to work good though I haven't shot it for groups. and, regardless if the head space is on the generous side, I don't think I'll ever wear it out.
