My granddad brought the gun back from Europe after WWII. The ordnance code is 237 and the year is 1938. From what I can tell all the parts have matching numbers 1671. Also, there are stamps of eagles over swastikas. Other than the cleaning rod missing the gun appears to be in good working condition. Based on what I have found on different sites the gun maybe a collectors item, worth as much as $2800. One last item of interest is a stamped letter H on the stock below a very subdued eagle or something it's hard to see. I do not want to sell the gun but would like to know its worth and any information about the marking. Thanks for your help. Pistol

Posts: 494 (04/10/09 11:54 AM) active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Built in 1938 by Berlin Lubecker (The code 237) if the bore is pristine and every single part is correctly numbered and proofed (check the bolt and see if that number matches the receiver number) then a mint gun would be worth $1,200-2,000.00 but it would have to be extra originally pristine to see a 2 in the front of the dollar. Can you post pictures??? Also check the floor plate and trigger guard numbers. Most of these bring backs had the bolt changed because surrnedering Germans had to separate the bolt from the rifle and deposit them in separate piles so GIs wanting a gun usually just stuck a bolt that worked in it, never considering matching numbers. Even if grandpa got all matching to the ship he had to turn in the bolt to the quartermaster and the chance he got the same one would be rare. However, some managed that knew to do this most matching though, are usually officer bring backs or imported.
