Yeah--hard to watch. The only mention of the C&R category was when Stahl picked up some sort of old muzzle-loader (?) and mentioned the "Antiques Road
Show." Naturally, the emphasis was on "assault weapons" and not on milsups (for example). The "Honorable" Dianne Feinstein got plenty
of undeserved face time. The whole broadcast felt creepy & manipulative. Bags of reloads were referred to as "bullets." (Okay, I know it's a
matter of semantics, but it illustrates the level of knowledge of these network stooges.)
The introduction was predictably stupid: Stahl stated that a couple of the idiots who "went postal" lately had just lost their jobs. Well, so what-? I've lost a couple of jobs my own self--I dealt with it--assaulted NOBODY with a firearm. Are we to assume now that all newly jobless Americans are to be feared-? Did I get this right-? I really want to be a gentleman with the anti-gun wussies I meet, and listen to their concerns...honestly...but, man, I'm about to stop being polite. But: I promise I won't throw down on 'em. I need a beer.

It appears they rushed to get this show out in light of the recent shootings. They all but ignored the Obama factor sales surge since last fall. The
one-sidedness of their point of view can be counted in so many ways.
1. They juxtapose the VA Tech shooter over the "gun show loophole" even though Cho went through a dealer and passed a background check. They excoriate the NRA for opposing background checks on used private-party sales, yet didn't even mention that, in the wake of the VA Tech tragedy, the NRA DID support a change in the law that makes it harder for crazy people to buy guns. 2. Assault weapons have full-auto capability. Yet the term was used countless times when they weren't really talking about assault weapons. 3. They continue to spread the discredited lie that Mexican drug gangs get a significant portion of their guns here. 4. They fail to point out that their so-called "assault weapons" are seldom used in crimes. In fact, they herald them as a favorite of street gangs. 5. That they even spoke to Sen Feinstein - i.e. I want to take away YOUR guns, nyaa, nyaa, nyaa, nyaa, nyaa! While I keep MY armed guards. She waxed eloquent about how she attended the funeral of the 3 Oakland police officers gunned down by an "assault weapon." Hey, wait a minute, didn't Taxifornia ban "assault weapons" waayy back, about 18 years ago? Gee, Wally, criminals obey gun control laws, don't they? 6. They implied the 2008 elections had a mandate for gun control....HELLO??? The democrats ran from the discussions of gun control during the campaign like cockroaches scurrying away when you turn the lights on! Yeah, this was real fair and balanced. Plplplplplpl! I'd like to know what those blubbering idiots from the big cities have to say about civilian firearms ownership NOW that Capt Phillips was rescued by three Navy Seal SNIPERS!! (If I'm not mistaken, the correlation of skilled military/police marksmen/snipers to prior shooting skill is pretty high.) P.S. - at least the first segment, about the artificial arm with a working hand, was good. Crunch

I hope Annette one of the promoters of the Richmond show saw it and took it to light that her comment about why not let them in as they tend to cream us anyway
is looked at from a different angle. They never should have been in there and there should have been no reason to help them present this rhetoric and crap or
any thought that cooperation would change their viewpoint! Listened to Katie Couric interview Herter on the air a couple of days ago and keep repeating over
and over about the Gun Show Loop Hole. Loophole my butt it is called 2nd Amendment Constitutional Rights Shorty! She also has no direct email address to send
my comments to her either and would say maybe that is why she is so out of touch! Makes my blood boil at times! Bill

I didn't watch it either, but I heard about it this morning. One lady here at work told me that she was shocked that VA allowed people to buy and sell guns
with no paperwork. She was shocked when I told her that most states did, at least for now

Yet again the media demonizes guns and avoids discussion of the people who kill. I bet most people don't know anything about the maniacs that have recently
gone on shooting sprees. Here are some facts about these seriously disfunctional individuals that the media glosses over;
Richard Poplawski was expelled from high school and was dishonorably discharged from the USMC. Jiverly Wong was a former crack addict that held a grudge against the USA because he couldn't learn English. Lovelle Mixon, the violent felon on parole who shot four policemen in Oakland CA, began his shooting spree when he was stopped for raping a 12 year old girl. He was pursuing a new career as a pimp. Robert Stewart, the Carthage NC nursing home shooter, had been divorced three times for physical violence, and attacked the nursing home because his estranged wife #4 worked there. Michael McLendon, the Samson AL shooter that killed 10 people, was denied enlistment in the USMC and failed out of the police academy. Because he held his family responsible for his failures he shot them. Perhaps 60 Minutes will do an expose' on these guys...... |

Doubtful, but if they did they would show, how society had failed to recognize their problems and help them. It's always somebody or something made me do it. humbug, bah

I was at the gun show when the 60 minutes team was video taping and most of the people attending the show didn't want anything to do with them, knowing the
probable slant the news media would give the story.
In my opinion, the gun show people shouldn't assist the news media in any way. The media only is going to twist the truth to their way of thinking anyways. ![]() |

CBS probably had the same writers work on this story as they had do Dan Rather's story about W and the Texas National Guard.
You know the one that had letters dated in the 70's that were printed on a laser jet printer. |

Sad to see the network of Murrow, Cronkite, et al, become a tabloid gossip sheet. Interesting to note the sponsors last night: all of them pharmaceutical
giants. (Not sure what it means.)
But...maybe if I take feel good pills I won't go crazy and shoot up the town. Thanks to Eagle7 for the backgrounds on the recent killers. Proper attention and / or a jail cell may have helped at one time. |

Someone mentioned the frog & scorpion analogy in a previous thread.
The 60-Minutes bunch are scorpions. and it sounds like the gun show promoter was just a naive frog... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One day, a scorpion looked around at the mountain where he lived and decided that he wanted a change. So he set out on a journey through the forests and hills. He climbed over rocks and under vines and kept going until he reached a river. The river was wide and swift, and the scorpion stopped to reconsider the situation. He couldn't see any way across. So he ran upriver and then checked downriver, all the while thinking that he might have to turn back. Suddenly, he saw a frog sitting in the rushes by the bank of the stream on the other side of the river. He decided to ask the frog for help getting across the stream. "Hellooo Mr. Frog!" called the scorpion across the water, "Would you be so kind as to give me a ride on your back across the river?" "Well now, Mr. Scorpion! How do I know that if I try to help you, you wont try to kill me?" asked the frog hesitantly. "Because," the scorpion replied, "If I try to kill you, then I would die too, for you see I cannot swim!" Now this seemed to make sense to the frog. But he asked. "What about when I get close to the bank? You could still try to kill me and get back to the shore!" "This is true," agreed the scorpion, "But then I wouldn't be able to get to the other side of the river!" "Alright then...how do I know you wont just wait till we get to the other side and THEN kill me?" said the frog. "Ahh...," crooned the scorpion, "Because you see, once you've taken me to the other side of this river, I will be so grateful for your help, that it would hardly be fair to reward you with death, now would it?!" So the frog agreed to take the scorpion across the river. He swam over to the bank and settled himself near the mud to pick up his passenger. The scorpion crawled onto the frog's back, his sharp claws prickling into the frog's soft hide, and the frog slid into the river. The muddy water swirled around them, but the frog stayed near the surface so the scorpion would not drown. He kicked strongly through the first half of the stream, his flippers paddling wildly against the current. Halfway across the river, the frog suddenly felt a sharp sting in his back and, out of the corner of his eye, saw the scorpion remove his stinger from the frog's back. A deadening numbness began to creep into his limbs. "You fool!" croaked the frog, "Now we shall both die! Why on earth did you do that?" The scorpion shrugged, and did a little jig on the drownings frog's back. "I could not help myself. It is my nature."

Um...that Chinese guy who shot all those students in 2007, that was in VA, not WVa. Just a small correction. LOL
Well, my "avowed" communist friend from Charlotte, NC was really happy with the pirates getting shot. That's surprising since he once commented that "Navy ships should just carry those new 'noise projectors' [he] saw on the History Channel." When I was making fun of how far the world had sunk (not allowing people to defend themselves against pirates) he became quiet, then agreed with me. But ya, the media is very liberal....they'll win eventually guys. But we will hold on as long as we can. Then (hopefully) Jesus will return that day! LOL hsc |
