I wouldn't be a bit suprised if some nations are still using it. Chlorodane is another great pest control agent that we no longer have. It sure kept the bugs from around the house perimeter, great for keeping out the termites, ants, spiders and whatnot. Farmer use was banned, but a person could still buy it for home use at the local nursery. Kevin in Or.

They go on about lead contamination caused by lead shot from hunters in the swamps after ducks - with no evidence. Tests were done over here years ago and some lakes in the city were found to have high lead concentrations due to car exhaust emissions - that was before unleaded gas was introduced. One of the ranges I used to shoot on was located on top of a 'water mound' which is basically an underground aquifer. The water was pumped out for treatment and human consumption as part of the cities water supply. The land was government reserve. We had to introduce a lead reporting system and keep a record of the amount of lead fired downrange. They also had bores drilled for testing purposes - they never did find any level of lead in the water that would be of concern. We even had to have a range clean-up every five (or ten?) years and we had an old mining sifting machine to separate the large bits from the sand, with further manual screening by hand. I think we got about 10kg (about 22lbs) of lead off our range which was only a few year old at the time. I think the outer layer of the lead oxidises and slows the decay of the unexposed bits and I'm not sure how harmful the oxidised lead compounds are. Anyway we met the government requirements and they were happy and we kept out lease. I think they were doing the right thing without going overboard.

With a 6 cavity mold, it went fast. First time I'd ever casted. Like everything else there is a certain knack that I am learning. I had about 5% rejects. Oh well. It was a lot of fun.

I cast 115 of the 535 grain .45 cal Postells for my 45-70 BPCRS yesterday and I'll be very glad to have 100 fully usable bullets out of it! Of course you did have a piped in oxygen supply to your face masks, so that you weren't breathing any air from over the lead pot, right?!?! Or did you have the lead pot in a hyperbaric chamber, and did your casting by remote manipilators??? Sorry, I do know that sarcasm is a poor replacement for true wit. But it's all I've got sometimes! Good job on the casting session!!!

I was in my buddy's shop with the bay doors and windows open, and I was wearing gloves and glasses. I'm not paranoid, but I do have a healthy respect for superheated posionous metals!

All that needs to be done is have a perfect factory balanced tire and wheel. Then have the valve stem equal to the weight from the hole came out of the rim for the valve stem. or is that too complicated. We put a man on the moon, or was that full of it too.skd
