Is there any trick to replacing/fitting this firing pin? It looks like it just screws into the cocking piece. I guess I have to have some way to know how far to turn it in to get the right firing pin protrusion. Does anyone have any tips or techniques to provide? TIA!
How did I do at $75? Broken firing pin, missing cleaning rod, wood is beautiful with just a couple of fine handling marks, blue is about all there, a little darkening in a couple of places on bright polished pieces but not much, bore is beautiful, crest is scrubbed. I don't have it here and can't remember serial number or etc, but will probably provide more details later in this thread if anyone cares. How did I do?
While I'm at it: What's my best choice for a replacement cleaning rod? Used original at Numrich for about $21, 1/8" longer "replacement" at Numrich for $9, cleaning rod 91/09 at Sarco for $7. I'm supposing "original" at Numrich is the logical choice, but I wonder if anyone has any other thoughts on that?
