I recently cleaned up a 1918 Amberg, that has some of the stock markings as the one pictured above."My bringback 1917 Amberg Gew 98".
That EWB marking on mine looks like it was branded on, same place as the one above, other markings are the same. Bluing is VG, but not sure if it is original or not. Stock was cleaned, but not sanded. Bolt is blued, the rifle is not matching and has the cleaning rod. It was reworked by Mauser (S/42G) the roller coaster sight is gone. I think it might be a "Nazi Sneak". Any history would be appreciated. Sorry, no Pics yet.
