Posts: 1 (05/13/09 10:17 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None hi guys and gals i bought a turk model 38 years ago with some surplus ammo in the cloth bandoleros i put the gun away its just a average surplus gun bolt does not match and i understand that is common in the k kale guns but i want to shoot it so i was checking it over and when i cock the bolt back like i am loading a round into it and go to engage the safety i can't move the safety to the safe position it stays in the fire position and the firing pin does engage and releases any help also i am missing a butt screw not the top one that is at a angle but the other one the top screw looks brass any help or replacement sizes or do you know where i can order on if any one can give me advice THANKS

Clean the barrel and bolt face with hot soapy water or dilluted windex and then the usual solvents. gil

Numrich has them, also ebay. Those Turk bandoliers of ammo are going for 35 bucks at the gun shows lately. Turk ammo shoots good. Watch out for the 1938 ammo. Alot of duds there....chris3

Posts: 1274 (05/18/09 06:27 AM) Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	I suspect that the cocking piece and shroud aren't screwed in all the way. It won't be easy but you'll need to close the bolt (in the rifle) and somehow pull the cocking piece backwards (with the bolt still cocked), and then turn the saftey to the upright position. Then open the bolt and take it out of the rifle, and screw the shroud assembly further into the bolt - you'll have to press the little button on the side of the shroud to get it to turn. Alternatively you can do the same with the bolt out of the rifle but the cocking piece will slide forward into the groove before you get all the way around - no problem, just use a screw driver to push the cocking piece back whilst turning the shroud the remainder of the way. I think the cocking piece is one turn off being fully home. Yoy may not be able to fire the rifle unless you do this since the firing pin won't be going fully forward. This is not unsafe - just the rifle won't go bang reliably. I think someone pulled the bolt apart normally but didn't screw the shroud all the way in. When they closed the bolt in the rifle and released the safety, the cocking piece moved forward and out of alignment with the safety. Not all Mauser bolts will do this but my Israeli does - the little button on the side (forgot it's name) stops the shroud from rotating one turn shy of being completely screwed home - I just gotta remember to press the button and do the final turn. The Turks swapped bolts and bolt parts around and you may have ended up with a miss fit. Swapping in other safeties or cocking pieces may solve the problem. With your present safety and cocking piece, a bit a metal work may be the solution. You may need to remove a tiny, tiny bit of metal from the safety's camming ramp. Use a Dremal tool and abrasive disc. Visualize the safety in the "fire" position and your eye is that of the shooter position. The camming ramp is to the right of the safety at about the 4:00 o'clock position. It is at the beginning of the ramp where the conflict may be. Your ramp is too "square" or too thick or too far to the rear and collides with the square side of the cocking piece instead of beginning its movement on the front of the CP. Get back here if your problem remains.

Posts: 9 (06/21/09 03:13 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	had the same problem and started swapping parts out only to go with the pieces that came with my turk . took the cocking piece and hand stone 10 to 11ths off the front and pristo IT WORKED. this took me 6 months of buying parts and switching.save your self some time and show another gun pal your problem and they will agree where your problem is.

Posts: 2 (06/27/09 10:44 AM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Well thanks to all that responded and thanks to nc cruffer sent you a pm with my address but to update you guys/gals i still have not got the bolt back together i have the thing totally apart and no matter what i do i cant get it back together even the safety switch is off so i guess onless i grow another arm i am going to take it to a gunsmith and pay to have him put it back together it will save me from more hair loss NEED EVERY LITTLE BIT I CAN HOLD ON TO now i just have to find a gunsmith in south eastern michigan that will work on my 50 year old turk THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYBODY THAT RESPONDED I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS UPDATED
