Stars Humphrey Bogart and others you will recognize. Wikipedia says it was filmed in Japan in 1949. No doubt the street scenes were filmed there so you get to see the condition of Tokyo four years after the war. (In a lot of these old street scenes you see vehicles with smokestacks going down the street - any ideas on how they worked?)
Anyway, Bogey used to run a gin joint in Ginza before the war and returns to find it is still there. His wife was a singer there but she stayed behind as Bogey flew off just before Pearl Harbor. (There is quite a bit of Casablanca in this film). Unable to get back into his old business he buys a war surplus C 60 transport (Lockheed Lodestar complete with faired over turret mounts) and starts an "airline" mostly as a front for a crime boss. The story gets pretty involved but it is quite about the American occupation. I noticed the MP's carried 1903 Springfields which didn't seem right. The bad guy had a Nambu. In the final shootout the crime boss gets Bogey's Colt and, yes, you can count out the seven shots until his clip is empty. Then it is curtains.
