Paul Bruchet died in mid May of this year. He was the production engineer at Darne who bought the property of the Darne company when it went bankrupt in the early 1980s. He produced the Darne shotugn under his own name: Bruchet, until the mid 1990s when he as able to purchase the rights to the Darne name also. His single-handed efforts have kept the Darne company alive. The shotguns (and a few double rifles) he built are at least as good as those produced by Régis Darne, which is high praise indeed. For the past ten years the company has been under the control of his son, Herve, who continues to produce the Darne. You can see their catalog at www.fusildarne.fr. Talk about eye-candy! The prices are in Euros, and have forever dashed my hope of ever owning a new Darne.
