My Wife's cousin just bought one off a friend for $300. What are they? The stock, although in excellent condition certainly looks commercial. The
overall gun looks new. The charging handle is parked, so I'm to assume some of it is original? It has the bayo lug. What does he have exactly?

So did springfield produce and sell complete comercial rifles, or just receivers and parts? I guess that isn't clear to me.

I remember when they were advertizing the carbines, but I'm not sure if they ever produced any completed weapons. It seems that I have seen pictures
indicating completed rifles. It has been my experience that Springfield Inc is a very straightforward company. If you would call them with the serial number of
the carbine, I would bet they would tell you if it left the factory as a bare receiver or completed rifle. They would probably answer the additional question
of whether or not they produced any complete weapons...
