I've suggested his NOT shooting it (well not much anyway) and how to keep it safe from rust. The bluing is pretty good, action works fine, and stock is PERFECT. But what is it exactly? Can anyone estimate it's dollar value? It is likely perfectly safe to shoot if it has no obvious problems, though it should be checked out thoroughly first of course. Unless it is some very rare model, or has special provenance, it's likely worth a couple of hundred bucks, but you should do the research and nail down the specifics so you really know!!!

Lucky it is .22LR as the other two rimfire calibers would be impossible to find. They were produced from 1894 to 1935 and probably a lot of the earlier ones had bad bores due to corrosive ammunition. Posts: 2008 (06/23/09 10:18 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	My grandad Ballard was a Bell Phone repairman in east central KS in his younger years; carried a Stevens Favorite in .22RF taken down to fit into his telephone line test/repair box when he hopped aboard a train in Miltonvale KS to take him out to where the phone line was "down" to make repairs. He would go out on one train, do the repairs, shoot and gut some squirrel and catch the next train back to his home station. I have the rifle but my younger brother cadmium-plated the action, lost the original sights, ruined the wood and lost the take-down screw. Mine is junk now; sad thing to happen to such a fine little rifle. New models, somewhat modified from the original design are available. NRA Endowment member LECS #2
