I was watching my old "Tour of Duty" VHS tapes from the 80's last night, and found myself stumped on a question.

During the war, did the VC & NVA use mostly the steel cased 7.62x39, like what has been on the market the last several years, or was there a lot of brass cased, Berdan primed ammo in use? Chinese made possibly? What was the most common? Also, what about the 7.62x54 loads?

Maybe some of our Vietnam vets can fill me in, it was before my time.
