Howdy, folks!
My Ferret50 arrived last night and this evening I was able to assemble everything... nothing quite like an AR15 on steroids.
And I
have to give a shout-out to Spider Firearms' match hammer/trigger set... this sucker is sweet! I thought the Rock River NM 2-stage job was sweet... but I
think this one's even nicer.
I'm using a standard A2 buttstock with a 3lb. weight in the cavity. I went with the high Badger Max-50 rings to make sure I'd have enough clearance for the 50mm objective on my Bushnell 4200 Elite... the scope seems to sit properly, but the cheek-weld to the A2 stock is woefully inadequate. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. Any suggestions?
I was looking at the Cherokee Delta and Pro offerings from Model 1 Sales, but I'm not sure how comfortable a hard plastic check rest would be. Model 1 also has a rather simple padded cheek rest. Fulton Armory sells a bit fancier padded cheek rest (comes with low, medium, and high inserts), but I'm not sure how well the velcro attachments one these padded rests will hold up to the recoil of the .50 BMG.
We had a near tornado here this evening and it's supposed to be a steady downpour all weekend, so I don't think I'll get
the chance to pull the trigger on this rifle until next weekend... but I can't think of a better way to spend the 4th of July. ![]()
Cheers,
~ Greg ~
