All of the disassembly instructions that I have read stop short of instructions for taking the pin from the hinge. I want to remove it to install a scope---the scope requires that the rear sight be removed from its hinge; the hinge holes where the hinge pin used to be is then used to mount the scope rail, but gives no clue as to how to do it. Then press down on the sight leaf as close to the pivot point as you can and pull back toward the receiver. It may take a few tries to get it to happen, but it will. Welcome!! Nice looking 48B!

But question: Is the pin spring loaded? I want to be sure I can re-fit it back to original iron sights---do you think that refitting it will be a problem? Ferdy

That is the part that makes removal difficult. Reinstalling the original sight leaf is easier than removing it.
