I pimped my CAR-15 ! |
Lead | |

I pimped-out one of my CAR-15's with a high-rise tri-rail mount, quad-rail front handguard, top-mounted red-dot scope, side-mounted 3-9X compact scope,
vertical fore-grip with pressure switch that actuates the tactical light. The original peep-sight is still functional, as well.
I think it still needs a laser...

Wouldn't you want the longer range 3x9 scope on the same axis as the bore?

Yo "bean," now try packing it for a few miles with 65 lbs of body armor, water, ammo, and assorted crap and then let us know how necessary all those
widgets are.

brass rat wrote:It IS a little funky, in that the way I had to mount it, causes the windage & elevation knobs to be reversed. It took a while to dial it in, because it's upside-down and backwards on the windage now. It is now set up with the red-dot zeroed at 50yds, the standard peep-sight zeroed at 100yds, and the 3-9X zoomed to 9X, and zeroed at 200yds. As per Eb's post, the REAL problem is, is that it now weighs as much or more than a Garand!

I stacked two tri-rails, one on top of the other. On the lower one, I cut the two side-rails off, so it serves as a height spacer to let me look thru the
center of the upper tri-rail with my standard peep sight.
They are the $14.95 cheepies that Centerfire sells: http://www.centerfiresystems.com/MNTTR-R.aspx Whoops! They were $14.95/ea when I bought them back in the spring, looks like they are $19.99/ea now.

Thanks Bean. I have 2 more questions, does the mount hang off the end of the flat top since you have a peep sight on there also and if not what brand of peep
sight are you using? I purchased one of these mounts also but with my Matec BUIS it hangs off on the end and the last cross bolt of the riser is not in a slot.
