Posts: 115 Jul 7 09 2:49 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I'm trying to find out whether this is a rifle made using the Remington barrel and lock only, or whether an actual firearm made by the Remington company. I know little of this period, but it would seem to be just pre-Civil War. Any information or comments most appreciated. Posts: 2015 Jul 7 09 6:08 PM Veteran member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Remington was a well known barrel maker in the years before the Civil War and many gunsmiths made use of their products. In the 1850's H.E. Dimick of St. Louis was known to have produced some target rifles with muzzles cut for starters (as yours is), using Remington barrels. Several other noted gunsmiths of this era (J. Henry, Albright, Beauvais, Hawken, Hawkins, Morgan & etc.) made rifles that are of a kind with yours, and it is likely that many of them availed themselves of commercial parts such as barrels and locks, some likely from Remington. I am unaware of Remington producing completed rifles in this style, but I have no creditable reference to say either yes or no on that point. Looks like a wonderful rifle, and I truly hope you enjoy your search! Thanks for the pictures!
