I will preface this by saying I am loosing my job at the end of the month. (Company closing.) Before that happens - I figured I would treat myself to a few small "goodies" before the paychecks stop coming. So..... I ordered an extra turret & primer setup for my Redding T-7 press, and a modified .30-06 case for my Stoney Point OAL tool. After receiving the parts today, I fired off this email to the supplier. It would cost me as much for the return shipping as the case did to return it for an exchange. So I'll just have to make one myself and take the loss. Again, I'm not in the best of moods these days. Sorry for the rant. Too subtle??? INVOICE# 59XXX Customer # 6XXXX-000XX Invoice date 7/06/09 Ship date 7/06/09 Re: Item number PCA3006 Just a note to let your shipping department know that you can't package a brass cartridge case and an 8 pound cast iron reloading press turret together (loosely) in a box, and expect the brass case to survive a trip through the UPS system. (Or any other shipper for that matter.) Suggest you recommend to the individual responsible for said packaging, to pull their head out of their posterior.... I've recently had three "mistake" shipments from sellers and I demanded (did not "ask") a prepaid return and replacement and received it all three times. "Business" is not good enough these days for sellers to ignore legitimate complaints such as yours. Go git em! NRA Endowment member LECS #2

I won't loose any sleep over $5.00 I can assure you. It's the fact that the bone-head with no common sense tossed these items together in a box with nothing to separate / protect them. They'll probably give him a promotion next week too. I know -- much ado about nothing.... However, this memo to the supplier may not get very far: although everything said may well be true (it does seem that more and more incompetent people are both employees and supervisors in control of those employees) but this memo may have little positive effect. It comes across as a personal attack. Simply stating the facts of the matter and a request for reimbursment may go further when the supervisor (or higher) is contacted and this memo is forwarded on up the ladder. hsc

This was my first purchase from them, but definitely won't be my last. At least the customer service is top notch. End of story..... But to tell the truth, I'm looking forward to some time off. Everybody knows the automotive industry is in the toilet right now. 35 years of being bent over/under vehicles turning wrenches has wrecked my hands, wrists, back and knees. It's a young mans game, and I'm afraid I'm just not up to the challenge any more. It's time for a different direction for me. My wife says I should open up my own gun shop. I tell her when she wins the lottery, I will.... So for now, the plan is to rest up and try to get "mobile" again. I'm lovin' it, so far. I get "Obama Money" every two weeks, and I finally have time to re-model our two bathrooms. I too, was in the Auto Industry (supplier of wheel trim to the big-3 plus Toyota & Mitsubishi). As a salaried engineer, the company had been working me (and most all of the salaried folk) 12, 14, 16 hours a day for the last year and a half, all without any extra pay, because we were "salaried". When they called me up to H.R. in April, and told me they couldn't afford to pay me anymore, and they were putting me on unemployment, I could have jumped up and "high-fived" them! Been working 10 hour days for the last 8 years, but making the best money I ever had. The business had been going downhill for a couple of years and I got a layoff notice at the end of February. Got the story of how the place was loosing business, but they were going to turn it around - but couldn't say when. I was able to "bump" a newer hire, and start working in a lower classification (at half my former pay) in order to keep working, in the hopes that I would get my "old" job back again in the future. Then a couple weeks ago, they came out and announced they were selling the business. The new owners don't want a "union" shop, and we were all told they didn't have any use (uhhhh.... positions) for us. So, I came home and gave the wife the good news...... She says "GOOD, you need to get out of that job anyway and become a "house-husband"! I worked as a mechanic to help pay for school and I think I still have some grease under my nails and some busted knuckes from 20 plus years ago. I still do it as a hobby. Mostly motorcycle restoration now. Gunsmiting is good, but there is only so much money to be made in it, and it would be a shame if it interfered with your love of the hobby/sport.

I love going to the gun shows across the river, but dread the drive home if I buy anything there. The thought of being caught up in a traffic stop or accident there, and having a gun in the trunk is not a place I want to be. Well Doc you are a better man than I. Able to fix cars, motorcycles, AND people! And you make a good point. It seems that people can love a hobby to DEATH. But let them do the same thing day after day, year after year, to earn a living- it then becomes WORK and looses it's appeal.
