Ranger, was he not the one, supposed Indian, that would get nekked and hunt deer with a knife? Said that was the way his ancestors did it.

"I remember a guy way way back that went by the name Ranger. He was hilarious, full of it, but hilarious nonetheless. Every mosin he got was property of
Zetsev and so on."

I liked that "Figmo" guy even though he got off to a bad start, some huge exchange with several people, including Parallax Bill. He did help me buy
two milsurps on the cheap, a parade (chromed) Argie 91 WITH crest and a VZ 52 in excellent condition, both for less than $100.00 each in 2007.
So Calvert was fake? That sucks. I thought he got killed or something in Iraq since he just disappeared. SC Closer never posts anymore, the attorney from Columbia, SC. He used to host those SC matches where I first met Bill in person. A huge Mauser guy and he brought a newspaper reporter down there once to a match. I bought a bring back from him, although I've never shot it. I've been here since 2004, albeit under a different name then since I couldn't log on anymore under that name. It was the Turk Forum that brought me here, I happened across it by accident. hsc |

I also started here via the Turk Forum, also by accident, about 7 years ago I think.

Been here awhile, seen many come and go. Heck I bought a 4 digit Swede off of Calvert1 plus a great condition CZ52. All on the up and up, he was C&R
licensed.
Some I have no clue as to where they are nowadays are people with the handles of Swede6.5 and another guy also from the St Louis area, 30Cal. I went shooting with them and another guy from Minnesota (I think) at the Saint Louis Rifle and Pistol Club in Wright City MO. It was early in my collecting and we ended up shooting 600 yard targets. Heck I was still shooting Turks and Czechs with surplus ammo and these guys were already into handloads. Quite humbling to say the least. Ranger1 I think was HD's fave. Have met quite a few people off here in person, from the Red Roof Gang in Louisville, to Wiseguy's carve up the watermelon with a bayonet shoots and the numerous Knob Creek Shoots. Feels like home. |

Don't think so Ed, it was something to do with Harley's , if I recall correctly.

Gosh what a trip down memory lane it has been reading these seven pages.I joined the Turk section back in 2000.I remember all that you guys have mentioned plus
some.Tom Dan'l passed away quite unexpectedly about four years ago.Several of the people you guys have mentioned, myself and several others who have posted
here included, still haunt his "Tom's Talk"
M39Davis sadly passed away.I remember Calvert very well.I met HD due to being warned off of dealing with Ranger1. I guess I am like some others.I have slacked off of the frenzy of milsurps although I still dabble some.It ain't like "the old days". Shucks I can remember going into a Woolworth's store in Charlotte,NC in 1989 and there were literally trash cans full of M1's for $89 each.Rose's Department Store was where you bought a can of 7.62X54R ammunition and theu gave you a 91-30 to go with it.My first milsurp was a $39.95 Turk from J&G. Oklahomaman got hitched.Swede556 still is around.I talk to Octa every once in awhile.WVChuck is still gaga over accessories.I saw ParallaxBill last weekend as well as several other "oldies"from this site. I do want to say that last year when I had heart bypass surgery I got a lot of well wishing and encouraging phone calls from members which I sincerely appreciated.I have made some good friends here and I just hope they are as good a friend to me as I am to them. Someone mentioned Mr Hainey. I used to meet him and his lady friend at the Baltimore Collectors Show every year but haven't seen him in a number of years
now. Don't know what happened to him. He had a vast collection and accessorized all of his rifles.

Swede6.5 was one of my first site moderators and a good one. We got along fine. Sadly his interests changed and he slowly exited the scene.
I do feel bad for the misunderstandings and ill will some folks have had with me over the years. But that is the way life is. I hold no grudges against anyone but apparently I am still satan to some folks that cannot forgive and move on.

And also a "Net Nazi" in their little minds. Not sure which

Nah, I got a lot of grief from folks that suggested things to me that I should do to make the site better. When I didn't comply some went ballistic and
trashed me. Some do to this day but I give them not one moment of my time. I've probably had internet conversations or discussions with literally thousands
of people. It doesn't surprise me when now and then I run into someone disagreeable, or they just don't get me. It's unavoidable.
If you want to know what I am like, just ask people that know me personally.

Octa or Emul8 went by Idol8r(I do later). She changed her name cause folks thought she was an Idolator or idol worshiper LOL.
Russel or Oklahoman was the unfettered example of bachelorhood set high on the mountain. He got married nough said. LOL Mr. Hainey stopped by here a couple of years ago with a project Farmall tractor on a trailer. We ate some burgers and had a great visit. He was going through a job change with lots more responsibility and had some family things to deal with. Ranger1 was a piece of work for sure. He's from a town across the river from me. He talked a big line about his gun store and being a dealer. I found his address and went by his "shop". I think Ballcap was even with me right Ed? His shop must have been in his run down garage with the door hanging off the hinges. He bought a bunch of Russian Capture K98s through a local dealer. He started advertising on Tuco's Trader as all matching original guns top of the line stuff that would have made Mitchell's Mausers wince. He reeled in a couple of suckers before Tuco and Bill shut him down. I've been here since '99 right after my twins were born. My wife's father went into a nursing home and we ended up with his stash. I stumbled on this place about that time. Thought it was just an extension of Gunboards for a month or so. LOL By the way I saw some Turks today at a shop for $125 each. |
