If I were to do so, I should probably look for the Lyman rear sight and the S106 front - both were replaced (S100 & S122) when i received it.

Mossberg 44US finish |

As I mentioned in another thread, my 44 US was reworked by the military prior to my purchase from the CMP. I would not be opposed to removing the Parkerizing
and re-bluing it to it's original finish. In that it is an early example (S/N 100,2xx), I have to wonder if the restoration would be legitimate or should I
leave it as I received it.

I'd leave it alone. You have a good example of one that went through the rebuild program. Now use the money you were going to spend on parts and a blue job
and put it toward a blued one. Even is you get a perfect restoration you still have a restored rifle.

Thanks guys. I was approaching the "flip a coin" point. I just purchased a 144 LSB and the bluing on it is phenomenal. I thought about bringing
the 44 up to that level. You are correct though, the real value in it is in it's history.
Unfortunately, the ammo that they both like (CCI SV) keeps going up - I just paid $40.00 for a brick. |

Try Wolf Match Target...
The rumour is that it is actually made by S-K in Germany, for Wolf, and it's $46.50/brick from J&G Sales: http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/ammo-for-rimfire/-22/p/22lr-wolf-match-target%2C-50-rd-boxes-/cPath/48_475/products_id/544
It's the best .22LR target ammo I've ever used.
