First of all, the seller represented this rifle as non-import marked, but between the handguard and front sight the barrel is stamped with 2 lines of print that looks a lot like an import mark:
BNP 18.5 TCNS "
There's also a crown and a few other symbols I can't duplicate with this keyboard - anyone know exactly what this stamp means and who put it there?
Secondly, the action band is stamped "ENGLAND" on both the left and right side, but there doesn't seem to be any maker marks. Right side is also stamped "M/4 1945".
And lastly, the serial number (BF7013) and model number (No.5MK.1.) are electropenciled on the right side of the action band and reeiver respectively - is this the way jungle carbines were typicaly marked?
Sorry I can't post any pics but my camera stopped working a while back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
