Mauser 1871/84 Cartridge Lifter Issue |
Lead | |
|
I've recently been restoring a small pile of these Mauser M1871/84s. I'm just finishing up the stock right now. The real problem I
have is that When the action is in the stock I cannot get the bolt closed. Out of the stock it works well but in the stock the cartridge lifter seems to bottom
out on the stock/trigger guard and I cannot get the bolt all the way closed. Does this have to do with wood shrinkage in this 150 year old rifle? Am I
diagnosing the problem incorrectly? I have tried my completed action in two different stocks and I am having the same issue in both.
