I've owned a couple military rifles in the past and I know enough about them to know I don't know much. So maybe y'all can help.
I'm not a collector, but I was out looking for a bubba-ized mauser with a good barrel to use for the basis of a shooter/hunter. I don't have much $ so I hit the hock shops and small used gun shops. Long story short: I found a 1900 Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf that seems to be in sweet condition and doesn't show much of the hand of Bubba. The good: matching serial numbers and no rust. The bad: Looks like someone varnished the stock (what was the original finish?) and ground the magazine feeder plate so it doesn't hang up the bolt. Not quite sure how to post a couple quick cell photos, but you can find them here: Whattaya think? |
