Trijicon says "12 years," but the ones I've had to send back were about half that. But I'm basically "old school" and only have fiber optic sights on pistols that came with them. The Williams and HiViz are fiber optic sights that gather ambient light and glow in daylight conditions, good for target shooting but they do absolutely nothing in very low light as they appear black. The Trijicon have radioactive tritium capsules in them and glow in complete darkness but the light emitted is too dim to glow in the daylight and they appear like traditional white dots in daylight. Fiber optic are cheaper, about 50 bucks and the tritium are about twice that. They now have a high-bred out that has fiber optic with tritium inserts that would seem to me to be the best of both worlds. To sum it up if you are a target shooter get fiber optic, if your want low light defensive sights get tritium, and if you want both get these. http://www.truglosights.c...p.pvx?;MULTI_ITEM_SUBMIT PS: I'm having trouble getting this link to work, check out truglo if you are interested in the tritium/fiber optic sights. I do have the sig night night sights (tritium) on my P-238 .380 but in an emergency doubt I would have the presence of mind to actually use sights. LOL

In a self defense senario, unless you are shooting from good cover and the assailant is some distance away, you will probably be "pointing" and shooting with the location of your spare magazine more on your mind than the sights.
