I picked up one at a gun shop for 225 under the advisement of a friend. Has some good things about it and some not so good...depending on who you are talking to.
The good...
Scant stock with no cracks.
Remington Barrel 3-44 with nice bore.
The bad...
Low number receiver from 1904....which is the year with the highest number of failures.
Lyman rear sight. Nice but required some cutting of the stock.
The other...seems in great shape but all opinions point to it being a private build so loses some collectors value.
Now to the other one..its been sporterized but I am talkin to a guy locally because if it has the right receiver it might be worth the money to buy a stock and have a gunsmith refit it for me.
