OK guys... Just did it.... Saw NEW YUGO MAUSER BARRELS IN THE WHITE on Sportsman Guide web site and bought one. 
About $70 bucks delivered. In the white and 'original'. Guess we will see what we will see. I have an old 44 with burnt and rusted barrel and was purchased 'back when' for $40 bucks. Decent action, decent stock, (fair at best), bolt is fairly tight and hardware kind of beat up...but..for $40...what do you expect. So..we will remove barrel, front sight..foresight and try to 'reuse'sights..(I hope). Have shot it and really wasn't that disappointed for my $40 investment. Barrel will be sent to be blued and will replace myself. This is new to me as removing sights is indeed a new chore and then, trying to reinstall on a new barrel is gonna be interesting. Might break down and dig a bit for an original stock to help things out. Dunno...IRS is still on my list of expenditures and may have to wait abit. Plus, have not seen my Mauser vise in a year or so. Problems, Problems, Problems. Heck...may just dig at NUMRICH for sights if they have them and are 'useable'. Again... Money, time and tools are tight.
But was wondering if anyone has bought one of the barrels from Sportsmans Guide? Any 'history' of the NEW barrels? Sounds silly really.... putting a $70 barrel on a $40 rifle. And need to add blueing costs to barrel...forgot about that. I cannot blue...but do swap out barrels. So... let's be bold and go forth into the new barrel future. One step at a time. Big question is 'what condition are these 'new' barrels? Anyone seen one? Anyone mounted one? Anyone know anything about them?
Any response on the "new" barrels will be appreciated.
