Posts: 276 Jun 17 12 11:38 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Yesterday I attended my first rifle shoot. It was a CMP Garand shoot, but I was allowed to shoot my Yugo M24/47. Targets were at 100 yards and were simulated for: 100 (freehand, slow-fire), 200 (sitting, rapid-fire), 400 (prone, rapid-fire), and 600 yds (prone, slow-fire). I was shooting surplus 1977 Yugo M49 ball. In the end I scored a 284/500. I REALLY need to work on my prone shooting, as I did better freehand and sitting. I also need to get a front sight adjustment tool (which is on the way) so I won't be shooting 2.5" to the left at 100 yds. All-and-all I had a great time and I'm sure I'll be participating more!

I have seen some Mauser sight tools offered recently but they have been over priced to my mind. At the basest, all you need is a non marring punch and a hammer. If you want a more precise method, the C clamp style sks front sight tool works great and is (last I looked) not very expensive at all. If you're minimally handy with tools, you can make a decent sight tool by modifying a dollar store C clamp. One more hint. Zero your weapon before going to a shoot. It helps! (btw, if it makes you feel better, I am just teasing here and I very much doubt I could have done any better if as well!) No worries. I'm confident you'll do better next time around! Posts: 276 Jun 21 12 5:25 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	The one I got was $19 and I'll admit it was a little high. I do have the punch and hammer, but I do not have a suitable vice. I figured with the tool I could be more precise. The good thing is that there is an older punch line on the front sight base to the left of where the current one is lined up with the front sight post. Hopefully if I drift it over to the old punch line it will be dead-on.
