M-1917 Eddystone "Range Report"
Took my newly acquired M-17 to the range just this morning. Fired about 20 rounds at 100 yards. four, 5 shot groups of about 3" on average. Groups would have been smaller in the hands of a more capable rifleman, but I have a tendancy to "string" 'em. I have not fired a .30-06 since ROTC in 1965, and after concentrating on 5.56 and 7.62x39 for many years, it's a revelation to fire a "real rifle" again. The ammo I used was of 2 varieties: FN (Belgium military) of 1953, and W-W Military M-2AN ball of 1957. Surprisingly, the ammo was surefire and showed its' age much, much less than I do. It was a hell of a lot of fun !
