Romanian 8mm JS
I bought some Romanian ammo sometime ago, maybe from Sportsman's Guide. Maybe more than a year ago. It is listed now as" non-WWII dimension". I put this in my stash and the other day I broke out a box (green box similar to the one listed in SG catalog). The rounds will not chamber in any of my mausers! I have a Spanish La Coruna 1951, an M48, a Czech VZ24,1938, a Yugo 24/47. I miked all parts of the case and bullet(170 gr), and could not find anything different from some Turk from the '50's, except the angle of the bottleneck bevel looks a little different. I wiped some Prussian blue on cartridge and chambered it. No go, of course, but the blue was marked on the lower transition to the case side. My question is: has anyone else had this problem, is the "non-WWII dimensions" a fact, and is there any remedy for this other than pulling the bullets and powder for components and scrapping the steel case. Sorry for the length of the post, I wanted to make it clear as to what I've checked. I wait with anxiety to hear from someone with much more experience than I. I've lurked and this forum is by far the most informative. Thanks in advance. Derf.
