Fifty five dollars for a quality book seems reasonable. I for one, would like to have a wonderful resource book since the topic has caught my interest. I am only on my third Swedish Mauser. I just would like to know what I'd be getting (information, photographs, drawings, details, details, etc.) if I order this book since I'm kind of new to Swedish Mausers. I own a signed by the author first edition book about cap guns that is now worth at least twentyfold of my initial purchase price. You know what they say about free advice. What you find on the net might be helpful but then again.

An no, you'll not find the info on the web or in any of the others so called books on the subject. (otherwise someone would see fit to include their great knowledge in libraries, something you will rarely see) The best thing I've heard in its favor is that it can replace every other book on the subject. Where does it go beyond them? Does it go into spotting forgeries? What enhances a particular guns value, or devalues it due to some reworking? Why was aluminum range plates used on some, but brass on others, or even stickers on some? If it answers those questions, as well as the expected types of guns and various parts and manufacturing sights/sites, it would be invaluable... BTW, does the author accept PayPal?

Paper is acid-free and first quality glossy stock. A very nice printing job to be sure. As far as the information included there is: 1. Early history of Oberndorf and the trials/intrigue/events that led to the adoption of the various Swedish rifles. 2. Many models you have never seen, much less heard about (including a prototype trial carbine). 3. Bayonet chapter second to none. 4. A full chapter about ammunition. 5. A full chapter about stocks disks and wood. 6. Diopters and target rifles chapter. 7. Great sniper chapter. 8. m/39 and m/40 rifles from Germany. 9. Most complete serial number data base in existence. 10. All kinds of accessories, shooting aids, etc. and much, much more. 10 good reasons to buy.:rolleyes

This book sells for about $19.95 U.S. in the States, by the time I got it here in Canada it cost me $60.00 Canadian. My wife was not impressed. I hate to think what this new book would come out at. I would like to get one but the potential cost scares the hell out of me. By the way there is a story on Swedes in the latest "Shotgun News" Treasury. Doug

This one sounds like a more in depth book and so I hinted to my sweet wife that this would be a good birthday present for me this next month..so Dana, expect to see a money order from some fella in Oregon. I consider the Swede bolt rifles coupled with the 6.5x55 cartridge to be one of the finest military bolt rifles even made..jim

Posts: 133 Jun 9 03 7:07 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dana, The book arrived.It is very well done and certainly comprehensive concerning the historical Swedish mauser rifles. The old photos are priceless, as are the credits for Anders, Mats, Pettson, Bowser, Dutchman and many others who assisted in the work. I am, however, somewhat disappointed.. Nary a mention of the Ag m42B Ljungman rifle, and not a decent exploded view or armorers disassembly pictorial on the Mauser rifles.. Considering that some half million M96 rifles were made, and that all of us by time, design and resources are not fanatical collectors.. We DO like to understand and appreciate the history of the firearms, like to know how to take them down, re-assemble them,clean-repair them as well.. The M38 Finn equipped sniper rifles were interesting..I have one very much like that, tho it is no collector's item in the strict sense.... All in all, a fine book which I will read in detail and enjoy always..You have done an excellent job..but another needs to be done..I cannot believe you made no mention of the rifle, first of it's kind, designed by Erik Eklund at the Ljungman factory.. You have to draw the line somewhere or you never finish a project. I didn't include the Swedish Nagant or the Lahti either as a lot of people would have liked. As for exploded views, you can find them all over the net so I decided not to include them. If you want these, I can point you in the right direction. Thanks for the order BTW.
