FUERZAS DE ARMADAS DE COLUMBIA on the reciever. No crest, no import mark. Number 2112-58.
I've only shot it enough to zero it at 100 yards with surplus ammo.

Can't believe I procrastinated on posting this. I have one I picked up a couple years ago. Near 100%. Virtually no marks on the bolt or inside the reciever. Even the mag follower has no marks yet.

Madsen 47/58 Serial Numbers | ||
|
My two Madsens are numbered 0050 and 2195. They're in very good to excellent condition. They headspaced great. My gunsmith is in his late 70's and he had never seen one before. He actually worked for Johnson (of Johnson 41 automatic rifle) years ago. He told me of some of the rare guns he has seen or sold over the years, but never a Madsen.

Hi, My serial number is 2835-58 and does not have the emblem. It is a great shooter and very accurate. My son got his 1st buck last year with it. I got this rifle 2 years ago from a co-worker who had puchased it years before I have no idea what he paid for it, but he gave to me for nothing!!!! He knew I had a few guns and just gave to me. He now has 2 young boys and he did not want it around the house. It was unfired when he bought it and only shot a handful of rounds through it. No bayonnet.

Purchased one of these about 6 years ago at auction for $106. I had no idea what it was but I knew that I liked the looks of it, the caliber was decent and the price was right.
Rifle was in excellent/used condition (it still is) when purchased. Bought a bayonette for it last year on an internet site for $125. Never thought I'd spend more for a knife than for a rifle, but that's the way it worked out. Particulars: s/n 3684-58 'FUERZAS ARMADAS de COLUMBIA' stamped on chamber hood NO CRESTS on receiver or stock Left side of receiver stamped: MADSEN MG1A - (s/n) Cal 30 No other markings visible. Barrel, bands, sling swivels, trigger guard, magazine floor,sights and receiver appear to be painted with black enamel. Bolt is green-gray Parkerized finish. Black rubber butt pad is crescent shaped, center serrated and in excellent condition/pliable, like new rubber. I have fired about 200 rounds of mostly PMC milsurp ammo through it, after zeroing in with some 20 year old WRA hunting/soft-points. It will give me 3 shot groups of slightly over 1" at 100 yards - standing - when I really bear down and concentrate. I have also fired some Barnaul(Russian) 30-06 rounds through it, but the accuracy was a bit off and they left a lot of residue in the barrel, also a lot more smoke and muzzle flash. I LIKE this rifle. |

Should have posted before: bayonette has no visible serial number, is in excellent contdition, looks unused and unsharpened, scabbard is perfect. Also, for anyone interested, M-1 Garand/M-14 web slings work perfectly on these rifles, almost like they were made for them. I LIKE this rifle.

Thanks for your response....I have Danish-marked Enfield-type slings on my two rifles....unsure of the correct slings, but they work like they belong on them. The Garand slings would be correct for the Danish Garands and I had them on my Madsens until I came across the Danish marked Enfield slings. The time frame seems to match better than for the Enfield slings than the Garand slings which was in the 60's....just my .02 worth...
Thanks,

Hello fellow Madsen owners. My Madsen has serial #0874-58. Purchased it new, (never issued condition) for $45.00 from a department store in Houston, Texas in the mid 1960s. Has some wear now on the metal and a few dings on the stock, but still in great condition.

Be sure and check ebay and Gunbroker for parts. I almost bought a parts gun on GunBroker just to be able to help folks that needed parts....sometime you might get lucky...
p.s. I like that "unobtainium", Pit.....that's a good one.. Thanks,

Have you had this rifle very long? Someone gave me the info on it in 2001. It is the highest numbered rifle that I have listed. Thanks,
