Hey Duke: just picked mine up today, bought it online. Serial number is 4354-58, no bayonet, and no shield on the left side. But its in great shape, and my first 30-06. Love the old military stuff and bolt actions in general. Wish there was a 22lr trainer for this one!!!! Larry

I had 4354 reported already thru Collectors Firearms...did you buy from them?
Thanks,

No, bought it from an individual in the Michigan UP. Don't know how long he had it. Said he only fired a couple of times, and that he bought it for shooting in his clubs vintage military rifle matches. But it didn't perform as well as his 1903's so he was selling it. Very clean rifle. I'll try to get some pics and post them soon.

Thanks for your info.....both of those rifles look like 90% of the reported rifles that have sent pictures or ones that I have seen on auctions. The other 10%
are run the gamut from parts guns to everything in between.....
Thanks,
Ol'Duke

Received my Madsen this week SN 5125-58. Unfortunately the stock was shortened and the handguard and hardware are missing. I am looking to replace these items
which I know is no easy task. The shield is present on the left side of the stock, and the remainder of the rifle is in excellent condition. Plan to check out
how accurate it is this weekend at the local range. Anyone knowing of the availability of a stock, handguard or hardware please let me know. Thanks, Paul

Paul, that one was on GunBroker just a while back wasn't it? Good luck with finding a replacement stock. I've seen, maybe two parts guns show up on
the auctions...just keep looking.
Thanks,

Thanks, Vis.....been a while since I've seen a number that hasn't been reported before. The last several have floated around floated around the
different auction boards. When you get a chance, stick up a picture of it and if you don't care and it's not intruding, how much was your rifle....?
Thanks,

I recently acquired # 3674-58. It is 99% - No cartouche on receiver or left side of stock. Stock has some minor handling marks. After I bought it I took it to
my gunsmith, he said it appeared unfired. I paid $450. Found a bayo for it a few months later at a gun show. If I remember right I got him down to $75. It
shoots very well. A bit of a thumper, but I expected that.
Anyway hope it helps you. |
