I think you have mine in your base. I had been registered under a different name quite awhile ago and sent it to you. Lost pass word and name so I
reregistered.

Your rifle is one of the anamolies that I mentioned. Somewhere in it's life, it received a replacement stock that had no crest where it should have had
one according to your s/n. There are 3 other rifles like yours where they have had their crested, damaged stocks replaced with non-crested stocks. There is 1
stock in the 3000 range that has a crest that shouldn't have the crest. Thanks for the bayonet info, too.

Thanks Ol'Duke Maybe the Danes just forgot to put a crest on the stock. It was in near perfect, unfired condition when I got it from Empire Arms a few
years ago. I see no signs of the stock being replaced.

Who knows what happened with your rifle, they might have had one stuck in the batch that was a leftover stock from the earlier runs which had no crest and
their quality control guy was coming off a weekend drunk and let it slide....

Here's another number for your database:
0501 On the side it says: MADSEN M G/A 0501-58 Cal. 30 On the receiver it says (as expected) FUERZAS ARMADAS DE COLOMBIA No crest that I can see, no stock disk. Overall in quite nice shape, perfect rifling, still has cosmoline in the muzzlebreak. Some minor handling dings to wood. |

Thanks, wellfed.....I didn't have that one. Quite a few have been showing up of late that are new numbers to me and that's great. I've been
having ones show up that were floating thru the different auctions, but, here lately, they've been new numbers...
Thanks, all...

Finally found one I could afford at a Show in Dayton Ohio today. I've been looking for 2 1/2 years. Excellent condition about 98 %. No marks on the bolt
face or feed ramp.
Serial # 0895 , no crest on stock, just the Armed Forces of Columbia on the receiver. Paid $450. Cant wait to get her to the range. Doug |

Doug,
Thanks for reporting your rifle. You did well on your price. If you check the auctions, they are nuts if they think they can get the prices they are asking. They should be valued between $400-$500 depending on where you are in the world. You hit it right in the middle. Prices have escalated in the past, but, should be topped out at $500...just my .02 worth. Good pickup on your rifle. You will like the mild recoil on it. Remember that this is a battle rifle and as such, it has a battle sight. Big peephole precludes getting a real tight group.
Thanks,

I found 2 more rifles this weekend. Imagine 2 rifles at the same small show here in Knoxville....about 10 tables apart, but a world of numbers apart. The
early rifle, which a buddy bought for $350 was about 75% and had no disk. The later rifle which was really late had the disk, but someone had polished the
disk and the rifle was about 90%. It was decently priced at $449 and I think one could have gotten it down to $400.
Thanks,

Duke,
I ran across a Danish Arms Museum website that had a pic of a M47 with the sling slotted to the butt rather than mounted to a swivel. Were any of the rifles delivered to Colombia in this configuration? Interestingly, there was virtually no other info on the site concerning the rifle.Lots more here in your thread! John

John,
I have never seen one with sling slots. All of the Colombian configured rifles have the swivels...that I have seen posted....and in person. There were other calibers available for purchase, 7mm, 8mm, 6.5mm, 7.65mm as well as the 30.06. It's possible that the museum sample was to be produced in one of the other calibers with the slots as part of the contract. My guess is that they went to swivels as they were easier and cheaper to produce than milling out the holes for the stock slots. Just a guess, though. I'd be interested in seeing that picture. Can you put up the link to that museum?
Thanks,
Ol'Duke |
