Bolt is RE and four digits. The bore has distinct rifling but is dark. I'm hoping it will clean up a little with some shooting. The front band/bayo lug has a six pointed star on the left side i think this may be a german made part that has been put on it at some time. The guy I bought it from said he had owned it since the 60's so I assume it is an interarms import from what I 've read as it is not import marked. I got him down to $125 from $150. Did I get a good deal? I have read that it is thought that the domestic made Mausers were not issued to colonial forces and this one being made a couple of years late insures it was not in Cuba or the Phillipines but it is still a relatively early made rifle still in original configuration. I will try to post some pics if I can find a digital camera. Any info /help/ history on this much appreciated. I'm curious if it is uncommon to find one of these early ones and if the mismatched bolt will cause significant value issues? I don't care (don't plan on parting with it) but would just like the facts as I truly have a fondness for old Mausers!
